Dark Toys

Paintings by Howard Eaglestone

Dark Toys is the long-awaited solo show of paintings by Leeds based artist Howard Eaglestone.

Curated by Jon Wood, formerly of the  Henry Moore Institute, 'Dark Toys' will run at 9A Projects from 06 August- 03 September.

Eaglestone’s work develops a sense of the uncanny through meditations on found objects and his ongoing exploration of encounters between objects and contexts.

A central figure in the development of art practice in West Yorkshire and beyond, Eaglestone taught painting for many years at Bradford College, alongside visiting roles at universities in Europe and the U.S.A. His work has been published and exhibited in collaborations with Patrick Eyer’s New Arcadia Journal, and with poet/artist Ian Hamilton Finlay.

In presenting ‘Dark Toys’, Eaglestone is pleased to develop this exhibition at a young, contemporary gallery. Located in a former textile mill, 9A Projects offers a pristine exhibition space that looks-out across industrial infrastructure and the Pennine landscape beyond.
